Fair Trade Cotton Procurement Award

The Fair trade Cotton Procurement Awards is the 1st-ever pan-European Award plan to recognize superiority in sourcing of Fair cotton and responsible purchasing within the cotton supply chain at UK and EU level.

All public sector bodies, local the system, educational establishments subject to EU public procurement rule are invited to apply to showcase their achievement in their sustainable sourcing policies on cotton procurement, their purchasing practice and performance, showing how much Fair Trade cotton they actually buy.

Award will cover the following three areas:

• Organizational policy covering sustainable sourcing of cotton in procurement
• Procurement practice – how have ethical values been applied in practice?
• Performance – Achievement in procuring Fair Trade cotton products

The call for applications will be opened in June and online application as well as the supporting facts can be submitted until 31 December 2013.

These awards are a delivered as part of the Cotton on to Fairtrade procurement project, deliver by the Fairtrade organization, People and Planet, Platform pour le Commerce fair, Fairtrade Ireland and the Fair Trade Advocacy Office.
